Everlasting Lovingkindness

The last time I wrote for our website was so long ago!

God has brought us through many trials in the last 15 months. Especially since October, our lives were so busy that I was not able to experiment much with our recipes, take pictures of our tasty experiments, or write for our blog until now.

On May 1st this year, I followed the suggestion of one of the pastors of our church, and wrote a psalm, modeled after Psalm 136. I began my psalm with the first few verses of the original Psalm, and concluded with the final couple verses of Psalm 136. If you would like to hear the sermon in which Pastor Isaiah suggests this, you can listen here. You can read all of Psalm 136 here.

Maybe you, too, could write a psalm of praise to the Lord, chronicling your experiences of His lovingkindness to you! Here is a photo from one my fun days with food before our life became so busy last Fall.

Everlasting Lovingkindness

(including verses 1-3 of the original Psalm 136 at the beginning, and verse 26 at the end.)

May 1, 2017

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Give thanks to the God of gods,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Give thanks to the Lord of lords,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

To Him whose wisdom is seen in His creation,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting:

From the laws of astrophysics,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

To the intricacies of the paramecium,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

He cares for His creation;

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

He knows the due dates of wildlife,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

He provides rain, even in uninhabited areas,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

To Him who sustained me as I cared for Grandma,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting;

To Him who showed her mercy,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting;

To Him who did not forsake her, though old and gray,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

To Him who kept His promises,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

For all 91 years of her life,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

To Him who gave me a God-fearing husband,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting:

A gentle, loving leader,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

A servant who sacrifices for others,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

To Him who provides our needs,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting;

He blessed our efforts to pay off debt,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

Even through times of unemployment and low pay,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

To Him who sustained us through medical challenges,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

To Him who surrounds us with loving family,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

He gave us our families and our church family,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

To Him who loves us through their prayers, care, and help,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

To Him who heals me of bronchitis, cold and flu,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

To Him who gives daily strength for standing at work:

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

Who provides relief from skeletal pain,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

Who gives mental clarity for serving customers,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

Who gives joy and patience in difficult circumstances,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Who protects us physically,

For His lovingkindess is everlasting:

Protection from injury while packing and moving,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

Safety in driving when sleep-deprived and sick,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

To Him who gives wisdom to those who ask,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting;

Who provides us with an earthly home,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

To Him who drew my heart to Himself,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

While I was rebelling, living for myself,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

To Him who befriends His enemies,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

And prepares for them a home in glory,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

With an inheritance that will neither perish, spoil nor fade,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

To Him who gently and lovingly molds me into the image of His Son,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

And will shower me with His love for all of eternity,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

To the praise of His glorious grace,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Give thanks to the Lord of life,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Give thanks to the God of heaven,

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
